Trade.io ICO [Review]
Since the 2008 global financial crisis, little has changed in the underlying global system. The same systems, processes and rules are largely in place, along with all the systemic fragility, exorbitant fee structures, and a consolidation of power in three main financial centers (New York, London and Southeast Asia).
Trade.io is setting out to change all that. Their vision is clearly articulated in their whitepaper, and it’s an ambitious one at that. Trade.io aims to:
- – Be the leading platform for trading multiple financial assets,
- – Enable businesses around the world to raise funds,
- – Facilitate investment banking services with reduced fees,
- – Hold the largest liquidity pool for the benefit of token holders, and
- – Be among the top-5 cryptocurrency assets by market capitalization.
And they have the team to execute on that vision. The C-suite is comprised of a team with over 70 years combined experience in key fields – this team has led tech companies, startups, consulting firms, and been senior management at large public companies (including NASDAQ).
How Trade.io will innovate
The aim is to disrupt the establishment along multiple lines, all at the same time:
- – Eliminate inefficiencies in asset trading transactions
- – Reduce, and occasionally eliminate transaction fees
- – Streamline the listing of new assets
- – Provide a single platform for trading both crypto and traditional assets (Forex and CFDs)
- – A shared peer-to-peer liquidity pool, run for the benefit of all participants
There’s a lot going on under the banner of this one ICO. Let’s look at each facet separately.
Eliminating inefficiencies and reducing transaction fees
Current-day asset trading typically involves legacy systems, manual processes, human input and verification, all built on technology that hasn’t seen significant innovation in many years.
This all accumulates as a series of inefficiencies, which in turn result in high fees levied by exchanges for facilitating transactions.
Trade.io plans to use Smart Contracts running on Ethereum to circumvent all of that, by delivering a trustworthy backbone for asset trading that doesn’t rely on intermediaries or manual intervention.
Streamlining the listing of new assets
The major exchanges in the world today operate out of 3 main hubs: New York, London and Tokyo – each running under a different set of rules, with different requirements and hurdles to be cleared by each new business wanting to list.
Trade.io plans on disrupting this by making it easier to list on their platform, reaching a global audience at a substantially reduced cost – while still having access to the skills and experience of a traditional investment bank.
Single trading platform
Trade.io will deliver a modern, best-practice trading platform with fast response times and a streamlined user experience. Traders who are familiar with established tools would feel right at home – the tool set includes a stock charting engine, 80+ technical indicators, pattern recognition and expert advisors.
To cater for fast transaction response times (target trade execution speed of 10ms) and increased throughput requirements (up to 1 million transactions per second), Trade.io is implementing the off-chain token transfer solution offered by Raiden Networks.
The shared liquidity pool
Trade.io bills this as the most ground-breaking feature on their platform. Participating users will commit a membership fee to join the pool, and will receive 50% of all profits (or losses) generated by the pool on a daily basis.
In practice, this allows investors to build a passive income portfolio, in an instrument that’s completely liquid at all times – and in which the value of the underlying Trade Tokens themselves is anticipated to increase over time.
The Trade.io ICO
The Trade.io exchange will be powered by Trade Tokens – a utility token that enables frictionless transactions involving all assets on the exchange, while also acting as a medium of exchange and a store of value.
Right now, Trade.io is offering a Pre-ICO, ending on 25 November 2017. There are 275 million tokens available for crowdfunding, and for the duration of the Pre-ICO, 1 ETH will get you 200 Trade Tokens. After the Pre-ICO ends, the price increases, to 1 ETH for 150 Trade Tokens.
